The conference examined how a number of issues of Israeli family law bear on the role of mental health professionals — in this case largely Anglo practitioners — in helping their clients through a divorce.
Alongside the lawyers’ panel, the programme included Family Court judges, Dayanim from the state Rabbinical Courts, representatives of the Prosecutor’s Office and mental health experts.
Israeli divorce runs through two systems at once, the civil courts and the Rabbinical Courts, and for a family whose first language is English the procedural questions are rarely the hardest part. That is the ground the firm’s personal status practice covers.
